Data Methods Initiative
Each seminar lasts 90 minutes and consists of two parts:
-
During the first part, the presenter describes the research context in which the data method is applied, including research question(s), theoretical background, results, and contributions to the literature.
-
The second half offers a look behind the scenes, where presenters share their practical experiences in working with a method. For example, they may discuss implementation issues, describe the requirements necessary to apply the method (e.g., software, computing environment, access to and quality of different data sources), offer to take a peek at their code, talk about their experiences with journals and reviewers, or share their approach to data management, storage, and replication.
The seminars take place on Zoom and target a diverse audience with different disciplinary backgrounds and different levels of knowledge of a given research context and data method.
